Are you refering to fake calls that claim to be from Microsoft and help you?YES, They are FAKE for sure.We are NOT sure what they have done to your PC and what they ask you to do. If you remember them please let us know. But to do quick check go to Control Panel and Security Center and make sure everything is fine. Then login to :http://onecare.live.com/site/en-us/default.htmAnd run full system scan.

Two more places to check (the second is obviously only relevant if you're using Windows Firewall; if you're using a third-party firewall instead, see your user guide or the application's help system to find out how to manage exceptions to the firewall's blocking rules):Control Panel > System > Remote tab ensure that neither "Allow Remote Assistance invitations to be sent from this computer" or "Allow users to connect remotely to this computer"are checked. Control Panel > Windows Firewall > exceptions tab review the list of items under "Programs and services" and ensure that the only items that are there AND checked are application that you WANT to have the ability to pass through the Windows firewall

I think your computer may not be safe for financial transaction if somebody was able to take a peek into your computer (e.g. was able to remotely show you how to remove malware). My motto is do not trust anyone, including me. Always verify the trustability.Your best solution to have restful sleep would be if you have reformatted and re-installed XP.WHY? Rootkits, backdoors, keyloogers can be implanted during scam session (not all people are scammers, but you have no prima facie experience, nor their verifiability check -- e.g. Tax ID, Company Phone Number, Owner of the Company, BBB rating etc...).I think it would be safe to assume you have a System Restore CD or other back up system files. If you know how to do a system restore after formatting the partition, it is the best thing to do.Other answers are acceptable to me.

As long as you are worry, I also suggest to contact Microsoft Safety Support:https://consumersecuritysupport.microsoft.com/default.aspx?productkey=pcsafetymalware&faq=1&task=diagnostics&st=1&wfxredirect=1And discuss issue with them and tell them that you are concern about remote access, then they would help you and will check your PC for you to assure you about security in your PC.
