at the windows start screen i get an error msg. and if i dont hit enter immediately it freezes
as i turn on my computer the windows boot works fine. however, as it goes to the light blue start-up screen it immediately pops up an error msg (error message: windows cannot log you on. make sure you have a username or contact your administrator.) this
message pops up right away as the light blue screen pops up. i get a split second to hit enter before it says windows is starting up. it stays at that screen indefinitely if i miss my chance. however, if i do hit enter at the right time, it just continues
to the user log on screen and then theres no problems. one way around it is to never shut down: just stand by. but thats not good for my notebook as it is as old as Queen Elizabeth. additional info: windows xp professional sp2. and its a dell latitude w/ intel
PIII. its my computer so i am the only one who uses it1 person needs an answerI do too

This looks as if at some time your PC has been joined to a Domain, and it's
trying to pick up the Domain Server.
If so, then you need to get rid of the connection to the Domain.
(To be honest, my knowledge of domain networking could be written on the
back of a postage stamp in 24pt - so that's as far as I can go for the
moment <g>)
