Ok, I'm having the usual randam loss of internet access on my Vista Ultimate installation But what is bizare is that i can still connect via remote desktop and not just via the local network, i was connected from my girlfriends house last night but still coudn't brouse either through IE or Firefiox. Its see's the network but won't let me surf untill i reboot the machine. So far i have tried replaceing the router with a vista approved model, in this case a D-LinkDVG-G1402S. Internet ISP is Virgin Cable in the UK The Vista machine is connected via wired LAN, with the previous router (Draytek Vigor 2100VG)and with thisD-Link my XP Prolaptop has always had an internet connection either via wired or wireless. I've changed from the in built vista LAN port to a Vista approved PCI LAN card but again same old problem! I've alsotried a complete fresh install of Vista , Formatted the drive and went through the the pain of having to re-acrtivate via telephone! but again the problem has reappeared! This problem is making me consider my nect pc purchase, since you can't buy a new pc without vista my next best choice would be a Intel Mac! never thought i'd say that! I should say that MSN Messenger and Skype also loose connection. the only network service i'm aware of which keeps working is Remote desktop! Any way i doubt many people will take much notice of this since there are too many similar posts floating around the www? Mnay regards Olly183
