With a used computer the first thing to ALWAYS do is a clean install. This makes knowing passwords unnecessary. If you didn't receive an XP installation CD with the computer (and you should have if Windows is installed), either contact the seller to get it or you will need to get the installation disc from Dell. After you install the operating system, go to Dell's website and download/install all the drivers.http://michaelstevenstech.com/cleanxpinstall.html -Clean Install How-To http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Reinstalling_Windows - What you will need on-handDell - Request Backup Discs - http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dellcare/en/backupcd_formDell Support & Drivers - Go to Dell's website and download/install drivers and utilities for your operating system. Make sure to choose 32 or 64-bit drivers as appropriate. Enter your Service Tag to get the drivers for your specific model computer.http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=genMS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!

You have no idea how the computer has been maintained, what has been installed incorrectly, what is missing, what viruses andspyware there may be, etc. I wouldn't want to live with somebody else's mistakes and problems, possibility of kiddy p0rn, etc., and I wouldn't recommend that anyone else do so either.Ken Blake
