broken connection during installation
I am on Win XP on Copper.net dialup speed.I installed ROI internet booster after my virus protector installations kept becoming disconnected, so could not complete these installations. I tried installing both AVG.com and AVAST which take a long time to install on my computer just partially. The same problem occurred while trying to install F-Secure as I don't have a virus protector that would only install 1% of the program. The error message said: F-Secure Online Scanner 4.1 error: The program could not download all the necessary files. Make sure you are connected to the internet. or tell support: error ID 27.Is my system blocking these programs? If so, how do I unblock them or what other problems could be happening?Thanks.1 person needs an answerI do too

It is possible that your computer is already infected. It's very common to be blocked by malware from going to antivirus/security websites. The first thing to do is make sure the computer is completely virus/malware-free. Unfortunately, you'll need to get all the tools/updates, etc. from a different, known-clean computer with a faster Internet connection. You may need to take your computer to a friend's house if someone you know has broadband or to a local computer professional. If you do take the machine to a shop, don't use a BigComputerStore/GeekSquad type of place. http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware If the computer proves to be clean, then install your antivirus at the friend's house (or the professional will do it for you). Then have your Internet Service Provider/telephone company check your phone lines. If the difficulties aren't being caused by infection, your dialup throughput could just be too low to get anywhere online. This is commonly caused by damaged telephone wiring/connections.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
