build-in administrator account question
There are few siturations Win7 complained that my account (member the administrators group) doesn't have enough privilge to perform certain things. However, I was able to once I login as the local administrator account. I always thought that the build-in administrator account has the same privilege as the ones who are the members of the administrators group. Does something change in Win7 in this regard? thanks

Hi, Before going further, I want to verify some situations: 1 Does the pc in domain or workgroup? 2 What do you want to perform? 3 What is the error message? 4 In what situations this will happen? It’s maybe the by-designed feature of UAC: When UAC is enabled, local administrator accounts run as standard user accounts. This means that when a member of the local Administrators group logs on, they run with their administrative privileges disabled: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc709691(WS.10).aspx Hope it helps. This is a domain configuration. For example, I will get a permission denied error when running a vbs script (the error actually occurred when the script is trying to modify a registry setting). There are also few other operations will cause such problem but I don't remember the details of those operations. The thing is I don't have the same error if I logon as the local administrator (the built-in account) and the script ran fine. This problem occurred when I logon as someone which belong to the local administrators group. Is it they should have the same privilege? Thanks

Hi, This may related with UAC enabled, please try to turn off UAC or set UAC to “Never notify”. Also please change domain to workgroup, it’s a possible that some GPO has set in your domain. Hope it helps. Regards, Leo HuangPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
