cannot locate wireless network profile in my ancient pc
I added an old computer (windows xp sp3) to my existing home wireless network, using the manual option, now the wireless n/w profile comes up whenever I click on the Print Network Settings button on the last page of the Wireless network Setup Wizard where I click Finish to close the wizard. I searched for *wsetting.*, *.inf, looked in Connections folder, nothing. I see no 'Wireless Network Connection' icon under Network Connections. I don't see any Wireless Network under "LAN or High-Speed Internet" on the Network Connections page, so there's no "View Available wireless networks" under Network Tasks. I've been spending hours searching in Forums, youtube, to no avail. I have an ancient PC, I found out later there's an old IBm infrared adapter, but it's too late now, Windows has let me create a wireless n/w profile, now I can't locate it. Can anyone help me locate it so I can delete this profile that I don't want others to see, because it contains my SSID name, n/w key, etc. Thanks in advance.1 person needs an answerI do too

Hey,Try disabling the anti-virus software if any and see if the netwrok profile is available.Another thing that you can try:http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/itprovistanetworking/thread/5ed64823-8ce9-4896-87f2-18e0b572431e/All is well that ends well!!!!!

Other people who have physical access to your computer or someone else?Does the IR adapter appear in Network Connections? What is shown in Device Manager (Start > Run > devmgmt.msc > OK) under Network Adapter? If you did actually manage to create some settings for a non-existent wireless adapter, this information probably would be stored in the registry at HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WZCSVC\Parameters\Interfaces\[Interface Guid]
