class win32_error
I am using Windows 7 64-bit, and am trying to install a third party software, but when I attempt to install, I get the error message: "class win32_error StartService 577 Windows cannot verify the digital signature for this file. A recent hardware of software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or that might be malicious software from an unknown source." The first encounter of this problem, I did what the website said to disable integrity tests... "Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Right click Command Prompt -> Run as administrator", then type in the following, "bcdedit /set loadoptions DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS". The command promt said the command was successful, however, I still have the class win32_error when attempting to install or open the program. Can anyone give me feedback on this issue? Best regards.

The 3rd party software you are trying to install, wants you to install a kernel mode driver that is not signed by a trusted source.Enabling the loadoption DDISABLE_INTEGRITY_CHECKS used to be a way to enable unsigned kernel mode drivers in Vista x64. I am not sure if this still works in Windows 7. Microsoft removed support for thefeature in VistaService Pack 1 and I read mixed reports about Windows 7.Windows 7 enables you to self sign those drivers, but I have no clue if this is already documented in the public domain.Did you reboot after running the bcdedit command?Ray
