Unless you are the IT Representative of large business with a priority support contract, it is unlikely that Microsoft will ever initiate a phone call with you. On the other hand, if you open a ticket with Microsoft through an authorized support channel and the ticket has not yet been resolved, then it is possible that Microsoft may call you back for follow up. Right now, however, I believe Phone Based Windows XP Support is pay only so it's even more unlikely that Microsoft will be calling anyone at their homes. In general, never disclose information to anyone that has initiated a phone call with you. If you feel you MUST follow up on the matter, terminate the conversion andcall the company or business back via a phone number you know to be good such as a phone number off of a recent bill or the documentation that came with your product. Never use any phone numbers or contact information given to you by someone that has initiated a phone call with you. Lastly, if you are a U.S. Citizen, you might want to look here:http://www.ftc.gov/phonefraud

Thanks Shawn, I thought it was unlikely. They did say that they were responding to error reports filed from my computer caused by corrupted files. the computer has been running really slowly so I think there are corrupted files on it. Is there anywhere i can find out how to identify and remove corrupted files.

Is there anywhere i can find out how to identify and remove corrupted files.I'm not really sure. You might want to start a new thread, but you could try trial versions of Norton Utilities or Norton 360:http://www.symantec.com/norton/downloads/trialsoftware/offer.jsp?pvid=nu2010http://www.symantec.com/norton/downloads/trialsoftware/offer.jsp?pvid=n3604There is also the freely available Microsoft Security Essentials, but I'm not sure if that would fix corrupted files or not:http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/Honestly, I'm not sure if any of these will do what you need them to, but they are all FREE and they all come from reputable sources.
