computer keeps rebooting itself
Every time I open the internet, my computer reboots itself. For a few weeks it was kicking me out of sites and back to my homepage. But now in a matter of a minute or 2, it just restarts itself. There is no error message. I can use all my non internet stuff just fine. 1 person needs an answerI do too

I was trying your suggestion and the computer restarted itself. This is the first time it has restarted when I wasn't trying to use the internet. I have Norton Security and it says no virus, but could this be a virus it missed? It seems to be getting worse obviously.

okay...here's where we're at. The computer began to restart at any mouse click so we couldn't do anything. I took it to Best Buy to do a complete virus scan, but our computer wouldn't let them do it. So instead of paying for an expensive scan there, I brought it home and did a system recovery. It said it worked, we began reloading stuff and everything seemed okay. Now today it has gone back to restarting again. I tried to do the suggestion above in the control panel, and as soon as we hit the button to go to default, it restarted. Now what?? I don't really want to spend $100 to diagnose the problem somewhere if I'm going to end up buying a new one anyway. Any suggestions?

Thanks for the advice and help. We booted in safe mode and did a full scan - it came back fine. But in regular mode all it would do was restart still. So either it had a really sneaky virus, or something hardware related. Either one was more than we knew how to handle or wanted to spend money on so we just gave up and bought a new tower.

I assume you are posting from another computer.Follow my instructions explicitly. On a WORKING computer, download Hitman Pro:http://www.surfright.nl/en/hitmanproAnd Rkill:rkill.com Download LinkSave them BOTH to a USB Flashdrive. Now, take the USB flashdrive, and plug it into your infected computer, and boot into SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING.Once logged in, Open up the USB, Click on Rkill, your desktop will disappear for a few seconds (This is normal).Once Rkill is run click on Hitman pro and have it scan your computer. If THIS does not detect anything, then it is HIGHLY unlikely that your are infected. This particular scanner is a second opinion scanner, and therefore looks for a LOT more things than your average scanner would. A word to the wise.Dump Norton, use the removal tool:Norton Removal Tool ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe And either run THIS (Free) setup:http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.phpThis will check for malware, AND registry key errors, or so most of the forums say. >.>http://superantispyware.com/You can download the free version and it will check for spyware as wellhttp://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.htmlThis is a GREAT AV it works EXTREMELY well in conjunction for the above. Or purchase eSet NOD32.Young and learning...Have mercy - ChaosIf this post resolves your issue, please click the "Mark as Answer" or "Helpful" buttons.
