computer user vs domain user
ok, part of my problem may be that i don't know the proper terms to use to frame this question. but what we have is a computer with xp pro loaded onto it, and a small office network. When installing xp i gave a user name of administrator and password xxxx. We also have a user on our domain/local netowrk named administrator and the same password xxxx. It seemed like a good idea to use the same user name and password, but now we can't log onto that machine. We could a few times, but now we can't get in.Was it stupid to use the same user name and password? We would like to just get in there and change the settings, anyone know how? thanks 1 person needs an answerI do too

ok, so we used one of those hack boot disks to delete the computers password for administrator, and changed it to something else, and now we can log in. the network user 'administrator' still has the xxxx password and can log into all computers again. Still, i would like to know what went wrong there. What is the difference between the networks administrator user and the computers?

The domain administrator is on the server. The local administrator is on the domain member workstation.MS-MVP - Elephant Boy Computers - Don't Panic!
