crackling sound with x-fi card
Hi.I am currently running anx-fixtrememusic sound card in my rig.Every sound crackles. The only thing that seems to work is to completely remove the sound drivers and have windows 7 reinstall the default 8/27/08 drivers. Whenever I reset my computer, however, the sound starts crackling again and it seems that windows 7 has updated the sound drivers to the newer 1/21/09 beta drivers. How do I disable windows from updating my drivers like this?

have you tried using the Daniel_K driversSound Blaster X-Fi series Support Pack 1.0 - Windows 7 as they seem to have resolved the issue for a lot of people.

I dare suggest you try the drivers from Creative's site: http://support.creative.com/downloads/download.aspx?nDownloadId=10659My XtremeMusic is working fine with these and to my knowledge my W7 hasn't tried to replace them.

yes I have tried both driver sets and they both still crackle. I have disabled and uninstalled the drivers for my onboard sound card to see if that was interfering but still no go. Any other ideas? This problem has become exceedingly frustrating.
