Information from Windows 7 Help and Support: What happened to HyperTerminal? HyperTerminal isn't included in this version of Windows. There are several options you can use to accomplish the same tasks: If you only need remote shell access, you can use WinRS (Windows Remote Shell). To get help with WinRS, type winrs /? at the command prompt, and then press Enter. Try using Telnet. Telnet is a simple, text-based program that you can use to connect to another computer over the Internet. If you used HyperTerminal to troubleshoot modem problems, use Phone and Modem instead: Click to open Phone and Modem. Note You might need to provide information, such as your country or region and any special phone dialing rules, in the Location Information dialog box before you can access the Phone and Modem dialog box. If you used HyperTerminal to control serial devices, you might be able to find a downloadable version of HyperTerminal on the Internet that's free for personal use.
