create shortcuts en-masse (scripted)
New to this forum so hope this topic fits here.
I have need of making a bunch of windows shortcuts to a pile of video files.
I don't know any of the windows oriented scripting languages but do program a bit in perl.
So my first hope would be help with getting up a perl script to make 100s of shortcuts.
Barring that, how big of an undertaking would it be to learn enough vbs (or whatever) to do that job.
I'm hoping there is some kind of system call or at any rate, some kind of call that tells the OS to create a link given source and target_name.
PS-I just went thru the registration for this group where I saw something called the `nntp bridge'.
What is that. Does it mean I could connect to this group by way of NNTP. If so, how is it done?Sager laptop NP8760 i7 1.73 Ghz 8GB ram

You can use the Microsoft Windows Script Host (WSH) to create shortcuts:

Hope this helps.
