creating shortcuts to password protected SMB shares
Whenever I visit \\computername\path\to\ in Windows Explorer, after rebooting, I'm prompted for a password. When I create a shortcut to \\computername\path\to\file.ext and try to open it up in Notepad or whatever, before visiting \\computername\path\to\ in Windows Explorer, I'm not prompted for any login info - I'm just told that the login info that I (haven't) provided is invalid. Is there a way to make a shortcut to a password protected SMB share prompt you for a password?

Hi, Yes, there is a way to make a shortcut. My advice is that You may use “Run as different user” option to run the Shortcut as the account which have the access permission. You may kindly refer to the following steps: 1. Right-click the Shortcut. 2. Then select the “Run as different user” option. 3. Type your account name and password.
