defragmenter not working
when I try to defrag my computer it says I can not cause the chkdsk is schedule to run but it never runs and when I turn the computer off and back on again it still says the same thing - how do I get this off of there so I can defrag my computer1 person needs an answerI do too

Hi,Welcome to Answers,If i am not wrong your facing difficulty in running Disk Defragmenter because it says CHKDSK is scheduled, Right ?This happensWhen chkdsk is scheduled in scheduled tasks. When chkdsk is running When chkdsk is scheduled and not performed on the computer. Before we jump into solutions few quick questions,What is the operating system your using? How much free space is left on your drive? Have you tried running Disk Defragmenter by using RUN command? Have you made any Hardware or Software Changes made to your computer recently?Have you installed any application recently? Have you tried running CHKDSK manuallyHave you scheduled chkdsh task earlier ? Solutions :Step 1:Try to check if any chkdsk is scheduled in scheduled tasks. To find out follow below steps,* Click on start and select All programs* Now select Accessories under this select System tools* Under System tools select Scheduled tasks and now check if option or schedule for Run check disk is in there.Step2:Step A:) If there is no scheduled tasks for CHKDSK try to run chkdsk. To run chkdsk follow below steps,* click on Start and select Run* Type CMD in Run window and you get Black window.* Now type chkdsk /fNote: there is a space between the chkdsk and/f. A black box appears and says "Would you like the volumn to be checked next time you start the computer" type Y click enter. Now reboot. A light blue check list screen appears and will work through 3 options, when it finds the problem it will slow down. Do not touch anything it will automatically continue to boot to Windows. You can now defragStep B:) If there is scheduled tasks for CHKDSK try to remove that schedule and run CHKDSK manually by folling above steps inA step.Step C:) If Step A, din't work then try thru properties of drive. To run thru properties follow below steps,* Right click on Drive Ex: C drive and select properties.* Click on Tools Tab in Properties window.* Now select Check Now under Error checkingNote : Let Error check run on it's course, please don't hit a key to cancel.
