desktop.ini
For some reason, when creating a DVD/CD on my windows 7 box, the file "desktop.ini" ALWAYS shows in the list "Files ready to be written to the disc", unless I remove it manually. So, I select 20 files and drag them to the DVDr drive, name the disc, etc. When I look on the DVD drive, "Files ready to...to the disc(21)". Why is it always trying to write this "desktop.ini" file to my DVD's? When viewing the "C:\Users\user.domain\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Burn\Burn" folder, the desktop.ini file is not there.

Yes, I like to keep my files unhidden. I want to know where everything is! But, my main question is WHY does it need to copy a desktop.ini file to the DVD along with the other files to be written? And it adds the desktop.ini as soon as I put in a blank CD/DVD. desktop.ini says, "Oh, look! A blank DVD! I want to go there!!"

I've found more information concerning this issue today. Here is a SevenForums.com post regarding this: http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/22810-files-ready-written-disc.html As other people have mentioned, the file returns even after each burn or new CD/DVD is put on the machine. The desktop.ini contents include: [.ShellClassInfo] LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21815

Hi, It is a system shell file which define the folders propertise by default. They won't hurt anything if deleted and they do not take up too much space. Regards,Magon Liu - MSFT

How do we stop this file from being created? It's annoying when we are trying to put files there to be written to a disc to see this file there. I'd like to stop the file from being created whenever I put a writeable disc into an optical drive.
