the desk top icons for my shortcuts for various programmes etc just suddenly changed size and are now quite big any ideas on how to ammend these items if possible please i would be most appreciative thank you

Hi, more than likely one of your CTRL keys on your keyboard is stuck or you accidentally held it down and then used your mouse wheel to change the size. To change them back, just hold down the left CTRL key and scroll with your mouse wheel to an acceptable icon size. Thanks!
