I run the disk error checking utility to check if there is any problem with my C drive. I choose the "scan and recovery bad disk sector option". The utility run to near the end of phase 2, but failed to complete. I run the same utility twice, with the same result. Hi Adam,My computer is a Dell dimension 4600, with Pentium 4, CPU2.66Ghz, 512MB RAM.running Window XP v2002, service pack 3the system is protected by Sygate Personal firewall and AVG.I don't have an installation CD. I bought the system from Dell, with OS already loaded.The CD/DVD drive is working but I need to put a pin to a little hole to open the CD drive.I ran the disk checking as part of my new maintenance procedure, after disk cleanup and fragmentation. Also, I found that the disk is making spinning noise which I didn't notice in the past.If I have a problem, I expect to see a report of the current state of the disk.
