eror code 1231
I have a netgear 311 pci adapter board.. I suddenly lost internet connection when Symantec fixed the liveupdate issue I was having. I have installed and reinstalled the adapter and software about 50 times so far and no connection. I have restored the winsock stuff and still no iinteernet connection. I am loooking for a corrupted file that could be fixed. I would appreciate any input. thank you. david

Hi David, Before we go further, I would like to confirm the following points with you: 1. When do you get the error message 1231? Can you ping the Default Gateway? 2. What is the exact model of the network adapter? 3. Did you modify any system file when fixing the Symantec issue? Meanwhile, please perform the following steps for troubleshooting: 1. Verify the status of the NIC adapter via Device Management.------------------------------------------------------------a. Click Start, type Devmgmt.msc in the Start Search box, and press Enter.b. Expand Network Adapters and check if there is any error shown on the NIC adapter. 2. If the Device Status in the network adapter properties indicates that this device is working properly and appropriate driver is installed, please boot into safe mode with networking and check the result. 3.
