error messages preventing the removal of virus in Microsoft Security Essentials
Hello! I had several nasty viruses that my previous anti virus software was not getting rid of so I uninstalled it and got Microsoft Security Essentials. After download I ran a complete scan as instructed by the Malware remover, at which time several viruses appeared. I asked MSE to remove them and the following error message appeared x7: : Error code 0x800700df. The file size exceeds the limit allowed and cannot be saved. I'm not really sure how to make this go away. I am afraid to close it, however don't see another option. PLEASE HELP!! Thanks, Brooke_Logan

Hello, you could try to run Windows in Safe mode (F8 menu during system start), execute the scan from here and to not quarantaine, but delete infected files. On the other side I would not trust such a compromised system any more. They tend to hide some components, which will often trigger virus downloads again. Instead backup your data (scan it as well), delete the OS volume and reinstall the operating system and the applications. Best greetings from Germany Olaf

Hello I wish I could say it was easy I'm still not sure the virus is gone from my computer. After a couple of hours the error message went away and it said the virus was in quarantine, however I searched for the files in question and they were still on my computer so I deleted them. I did not take Olaf's (above) advice as I got the response several days later. Sorry I could not be of more help. Good luck!Brooke_Logan
