I have been trying to install W7 SP1 without success. I have tried doing this manually using windows6.1-KB976932-X86.exe and using Windows Update Service. Every time I try, the install rolls back and says the reason SP1 couldn't be installed is error_proc_not_found(0x8007007f). Is there anything else I can do? I have looked for the error message (w/ and w/o the 0x800...) and have found nothing related to W7 much less W7 SP1. When I bought my Lenovo SL410 it installed the OEM version of W7 64-bit but then I installed W7 32-bit over it. I don't think this 32-bit installed over 64-bit is related but I think it is related to having 2 copies of My Documents (the contents of which are identical) Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Hi, to see the cause of Windows 7 update / Sp failures, we must look for error messages in the file CBS.log. Please run the Windows Explorer and go to the folder "C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\" and copy all files to your document folder, also copy the setupapi.dev.log from the folder C:\Windows\Inf and the file "C:\Windows\winsxs\poqexec.log" to your document folder (otherwise you can't upload it), zip all files into 1 ZIP and upload the zip to your SkyDrive [1] and post a link here. I hoped it helped too but it didn't... winmgmt /verifyrepository was consistent When I ran wbemtest per above, no errors appeared. The namespace that appears is root\cimv2. I went into the registry to the key where the first error (above) appeared.
