failed windows updates
Hi Dave, Your mention of .net framework as a possible problem with updates isn't specific as to which .net framework should be looked at for repair first. That would be a good thing to mention and then what order should they be looked at subsequently if the first repaired portion does not work. I also have run across this problem with a laptop running AMD 64-bit, Windows 7 Professional and it can not even look up Windows updates. I have run every suggested fix I can find for this issue and so far nothing works, the .net may be a problem but I would like more specifics as to which one to attempt repairing first and so on if necessary. Thanks, srtechy

HI. Did you use my suggestion on Net framework 4, and was that the one which did not work. Sorry for the omission, but it was Ver 4 I meant. Otherwise download and install a fresh version: http://www.microsoft.com/net/download And try the updates again.David Clarke

Hi ljfnky The updates are all related to net framework. This ha become a common problem. Perhaps, what has happened, is that a program has been installed, which required a mandatory install of Net framework and, subsequently, the program was removed and took with it some of the "bits". Try this to resolve the problem: Open Programs and features. Click Microsft Net framework. (assuming it is there!). Click Uninstall/change. In the window, select repair. When it is complete, you should be able to install the updates. It may be neccessary to do it with any other Net framework pieces you have in the Programa and features list, but I think not.
