forgot administrator password
are there any options other than recovery disk

Hi,
Please check if this is an OEM version of Windows 7. If so, please try to boot into
Safe Mode
to check if the built-in administrator account is enabled there.
If the built-in administrator is disabled and no other administrator account can be logged in, then we have to reinstall Windows 7 after backing up the
important files with Command Prompt.
However, if you've forgotten your Windows password and you're on a domain, please refer to the following link:

Hope this helps.

Sabrina

Hi
Deppending on you licensing with Microsoft you can use the product from MS =
Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset, a core component of the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack for Software Assurance, helps IT teams make PCs safer to use, keeps employees productive, and enables desktops that are easier and less expensive to manage.
Administrators can easily recover PCs that have become unusable, rapidly diagnose probable causes of issues, and quickly repair unbootable or locked-out systems, all faster than the average time it takes to reimage the machine. When necessary, you can also
quickly restore critical lost files.
If you do not have Software Assurance with MS i sugest that you use the tool from
http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd I have used it since Windows 2000 was around.

are there any options other than recovery disk
1. Insert the Windows 7 DVD and switch on the computer. Press any key, when it asks “PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD OR DVD”.
2. Now, choose the appropriate details that are asked which include Language, Time, Currency and Keyboard and click on NEXT button.
3. Now at the bottom of the screen you can locate a link labeled as “Repair Your Computer”, click on it.
4. Now a dialog box opens where you need to select the operating system as Windows 7 and click on NEXT button.
5. Click on the SYSTEM RESTORE link from the list displayed in the new dialog box and make sure that the restore point you choose is old enough to try out your
Administrative password .
Restart your computer and get back to work as you will gain back the access of your Windows 7 powered computer.

From your guest account>Start>Run Type in "cmd"
Once Command prompt opens up type in
net user guest /add administrator

This works on just about any and all computers I have tried it on, it elevates the guest account to administrator status, where you are free to edit and change things you need to change.
OR
From your guest account>Start>Run Type in "cmd"
Once Command prompt opens up type in
Net user administrator(Or the name of your administrator account) *

You'll now be able to enter a password for that account. Confirm the password and Voila! YouYoung, and learning...Have mercy.

Ifyou have lost windows 7 password
,try starting the computer in Safe Mode. Supposedly this will enable the built-in Administrator account for the one session. The default password may be a blank. Get into Safe Mode by repeatedly tapping the F8 key as the computer is starting up. If
this works for you, then you can set a new password for your normal account. If this didn't word, then a password recovery utility is available.
If that doesn't work, try Windows Password Key
which considered as the best tool to reset administrator and user passwords on all versions of windows including Windows7, Vista, XP, 2008, 2003 and 2000.It creates a password recovery CD/DVD, USB Flash Drive for home, business and enterprise. And
most of all, it's the most popular and safe solution for resetting your Windows password until now.

Yes, of course! When I met problem with my
Forgotten IBM Password Reset, my friend of an IT Expert recommended me the tutoral below:
1. Try default Administrator account
We can use default administrator account for IBM password recovery. In IBM Windows XP, 2000, Vista, there is a built-in Administrator user account that is auto generated when we install and without password protected. If we didn't change this Administrator's
password, then boot system from Safe mode and login in with the accounts to reset IBM windows password.
2. Access IBM password from other user accounts with administrator rights
If we have another user account which owns administrative privileges, follow the steps below to reset IBM password (take IBM Windows 7 as example):
a. Start computer by pressing F8 key to enter Advanced Boot Options before Windows 7 loading screen appears.
b. Choose Safe Mode at the Advanced Boot Options screen and Enter to login with the accessible admin account.
c. Click Start and input lusrmgr.msc into the Search box.
d. Double-click Local Users and Groups, and then click Users in the Local Users and Groups screen
e. Right-click the account that we will reset its password, and then click Set Password.
f. Input and confirm the new password.
Hope it also helps you!
