forgot administrator password
are there any options other than recovery disk

Hi,
Please check if this is an OEM version of Windows 7. If so, please try to boot into
Safe Mode
to check if the built-in administrator account is enabled there.
If the built-in administrator is disabled and no other administrator account can be logged in, then we have to reinstall Windows 7 after backing up the
important files with Command Prompt.
However, if you've forgotten your Windows password and you're on a domain, please refer to the following link:

Hope this helps.

Sabrina

Hi
Deppending on you licensing with Microsoft you can use the product from MS =
Microsoft Diagnostics and Recovery Toolset, a core component of the Microsoft Desktop Optimization Pack for Software Assurance, helps IT teams make PCs safer to use, keeps employees productive, and enables desktops that are easier and less expensive to manage.
Administrators can easily recover PCs that have become unusable, rapidly diagnose probable causes of issues, and quickly repair unbootable or locked-out systems, all faster than the average time it takes to reimage the machine. When necessary, you can also
quickly restore critical lost files.
If you do not have Software Assurance with MS i sugest that you use the tool from
http://pogostick.net/~pnh/ntpasswd I have used it since Windows 2000 was around.
Good LuckBest Regards Chris Steding MCTS Windows 7 Configuration www.compit.se

are there any options other than recovery disk
1. Insert the Windows 7 DVD and switch on the computer. Press any key, when it asks “PRESS ANY KEY TO BOOT FROM CD OR DVD”.
2. Now, choose the appropriate details that are asked which include Language, Time, Currency and Keyboard and click on NEXT button.
3. Now at the bottom of the screen you can locate a link labeled as “Repair Your Computer”, click on it.
4. Now a dialog box opens where you need to select the operating system as Windows 7 and click on NEXT button.
5. Click on the SYSTEM RESTORE link from the list displayed in the new dialog box and make sure that the restore point you choose is old enough to try out your
Administrative password .
Restart your computer and get back to work as you will gain back the access of your Windows 7 powered computer.

From your guest account>Start>Run Type in "cmd"
Once Command prompt opens up type in
net user guest /add administrator
Hit enter
This works on just about any and all computers I have tried it on, it elevates the guest account to administrator status, where you are free to edit and change things you need to change.
OR
From your guest account>Start>Run Type in "cmd"
Once Command prompt opens up type in
Net user administrator(Or the name of your administrator account) *
Hit enter
You'll now be able to enter a password for that account. Confirm the password and Voila! YouYoung, and learning...Have mercy.

Emm.. you may remember the wrong password or someone hack your computer and change the password.
Whatever it is, you need to get access to you windows 7 now. You can make a
Windows password reset disk to reset your password:
1. Login to a computer that can link to Internet. Download windows Password reset Tool and install it on that PC. Note that: there is a .ISO file. Burn the .ISO file to a CD or a USB flash drive.
2. Get out the newly created CD/USB and insert it to the locked computer.
3. re-booted the locked computer (it's necessary for you to change your computer's Setup to make it boot from CD drive or USB drive) and then followed the process of instructions. Just a few steps, the old password was removed.
4. Setting new password.
won't do any harm to your data, only
reset windows password
So, is it easy? Luck!

If you forget your computer password, you can use a password reset disk to create a new one.
To complete these steps, you'll need removable media such as a USB flash drive or floppy disk.
Open User Accounts by clicking the Start button ,
clicking Control Panel, clicking User Accounts and Family Safety, and then clicking
User Accounts.
In the left pane, click Create a password reset disk, and then follow the instructions. Make sure you store the password reset disk in a safe place.
If you
forgot Windows 7 password and did not create a reset disk, you can also settle the problem follow this:
Reset Windows 7 password.and a CD/DVD or USB drive is required.
