get a list of files with their attributes and other properties
Hi, I am wondering if I can get some help with Windows 7. Currently, I have lots of different photos in one folder, and they need to be name-tagged by their owners for searching purposes. My question is how to get a whole list of photos along with their tag attributes and all the others and dump them into an excel spreadsheet. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

There is not direct tool that would cover these requirements. Use vbs or newer Poweshell. Both are accessible in Windows 7. Regards Milos

Hi, I think you may have a try with excel VBA. May I know what is the extention of your photos? You may redirect to script center for further assistance. Script Center forum http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/category/scriptingIvan-Liu TechNet Community Support

Hi Ivan Thank you for your reply. The extension file for these photos are .jpeg. By the way, I have already posted a question on the scripting forum and so far the answer is I need to learn how to use the search function that's already pre-installed on Windows 7 :( Thanks

Thanks Ivan for your reply. Yes, but it would be very helpful for me if I can access to those properties, get the values I want and dump them into a text file or csv file. Surely, there has to be a way to access them because I can get some properties such as Name, Attributes, DateCreated, DateLastAccessed, DateLastModified, Drive, ParentFolder, Path, ShortName, ShortPath, Size and Type but not other properties namely Date taken, Tags, Ratings, Dimensions, Size, Title, Authors and so on. Thank you

Ah, so many properties you want to collect. Maybe the VBA has not such existing functions can grab all these information from a picture. Have you posted your issue in Script Center forum? Here is an article about VBA can be referred to. Do you have a try with third party tool? Files: properties and methods http://www.snb-vba.eu/VBA_Bestanden_en.htmlIvan-Liu TechNet Community Support
