Hi, You should store the ADMX files into %systemroot%\PolicyDefinitions\ folder. Then, when you launch Group Policy Editor, they should be read and displayed.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support

hi kim 1. so what you means is we should not load ADMX files from GPEDIT.MSC, it will be auoto loaded after ADMX files are copied into windows\policydefinitions directory, right? 2. however, i don't have rights to copy files into this folder, although i am already belong to Administrators group. 3. what i actually need is that i want to customized a group policy template, then we will copy these ADMX files to the other workstations in the same path, and run gpupdate /force, see wheter it can take effect? can this way be applicable? thanks for your answers. regards, charles, charles

Hi, For your question 1, yes, you understand correctly. For question 2, please go to Advanced Security Settings for PolicyDefinitions and check if your account have the write permission of PolicyDefinitions folder. For question 3, based my research, Windows 7 seems does not support customized a group policy template.Kim Zhou TechNet Community Support
