How do I copy a user profile from Windows XP to Windows 7 machine? Previously we could copy windows xp profile to another machines by navigating to userprofiles, selecting the profile to copy, and then specifying the UNC of the remote PC

Carey has posted a pretty good video. You need to either use WET (Windows easy transfer) or USMT (user state migration transfer) to copy the xp profile to the windows 7 machine. It will gather all the right data and transfer them into the correct relevant paths. Since the profile directories have changed it would not be advisable to copy the profiles manually. Use WET if you want to copy profiles on a couple of machines, otherwise use USMT for large scale migrations. WET or USMT: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc179066(v=office.12)
