i am a bit confused about merging a system and recovery partition.
dear sir, i deleted my recovery partition (D:). and then merged it with C: partition, as my C: drive is running out of space. does deleting a recovery partition affects operating system or computer or my hard disk. can reinstalling operating system creates a recovery partition. any help.1 person needs an answerI do too

No. What it did was take away your ability to reinstall Windows,should you ever need to or want to do so (unless you first copied itscontents to a CD). You should contact your OEM and ask what to do now. Also, the recovery partition was very small. If you solved your"running out of space" problem by adding that very small amount to C:,it was just a stopgap measure and the problem will very likely soonrecur. The only real solution to a "running out of space" problem iseither replacing your hard drive with a bigger one or adding a secondone; they are fortunately very inexpensive these days. thank you, i have not even merged that 8.9 mb unallocated partition, as it was not listed in the disk management console. am i right.

as i just thought that the partition which stores error log,memory crash dump files etc. is the recovery partition. am i right.

The recovery partition was created byyour computer's manufacturer. It only contains an image of Windows inthe state that it was in when it left the factory. It's there for youto reinstall from, should you need or want to, and it never changes(unless you change it--which you should never do). Ken Blake (MS MVP)
