Kindly help me friends I was using windows 7 ultimate and was happy with that , i have (C:, D: ,E: ,F: ,G:)partitions on my laptop. i created my bitlocker Recovery KEY and saved it in Drive D (my all drives except C was encryoted. suddenly i got need to use java applet & on Windows 7 with IE 8 it was not possible so i decide to use windows XP Sp2 again. AS i m using laptop Compaq c773 Tu specially designed for Vista 64 Bit Machine I installed the XP in C drive , but not formatted the rest drives to avoid any data loss. here my problem starts and i m not able to sleep since then.. I m only seeing C drive Rest all drives when i explore or try to open showing Please format it properties Used 0 Free 0 DATA RAW. Agin i made my mind to go back to windows 7 i inserted it installation CD but its saying i cant upgrade my Existing OS and if will install new copy thern all data will be deleted,.(I m afraid if will install Windows 7 ultimate fresh copy - will it delete my all drives data which is showing RAW now. so went to the option of repair the PC where it was asking me BITLOCKER recovery KEY and its already in D drive , please suggest as all my pics and official data is in all that drives for which even i dont have any backup.) i want to copy all that data please suggest me a way to come out of this issue .

If this is really the case, and you don't have it written down or copied elsewhere, you should not be able to recover any data on your harddisk - otherwise the encryption would be pretty useless. But maybe there exist hackers who are able to break the bitlocker encryption - but I doubt. The purpose of encryption is, that only persons with the correct key are able to access the data. So you need the (recovery) key on an unencrypted device like an USB-stick, which is kept safe, for recovery purposes. This is one of the essentials of any encryption system. And as it is useless to store the key on an encrypted partition (as you can only access that with the key), it is in another sense useless storing it on an unencrypted volume/partition on the same PC (as this key can be read by everybody and so the encryption itself is useless).
