iexplorer9 not showing in install/uninstall programs
Apparently I have a virus or something going on. When I exit iexplorer (ver 9) my computer gets very slow and sometimes freezes. Using Taskmanager I've discovered that on exit from windows explorer multiple copies of rundll32.exe will start running at the same time and my processor will be overloaded. If I end all these processes in Taskmanager things will be back to normal. One idea I wanted to try was removing the iexplorer program and reinstalling it from a an MS download. When I go to do this I find that iexplorer is no longer visible in my Programs and Features (install/uninstall) list. Something is very "fishy" here. I've run MS Malicious Software Removal Tool on the entire Windows directory and it came up with nothing. I also ran it on the iexplorer directory and it found nothing. I use Windows Security Essentials for virus protection and firewall, it reports no problems. I'm using Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit. Does anyone have any good suggestions? HELP!!!!

I made a typo in my question above. I said "when I exit windows explorer" when I meant iexplorer9. Everything in my question pertains to iexplorer9.

Use a decent malware scanner as well - nothing gets all the malware out there. try Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (free version) - www.malwarebytes.org . do NOT take up the offer of the Real-Time protection - it has some issues on my machine - but the scanner is one of the best out there. Run a FULL scan in your main user account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts. Delete everything it finds. -- Noel Paton | Nil Carborundum Illegitemi | CrashFixPC | The Three-toed Sloth

This issue may be not caused by virus, but incompatible IE add-ons. I suggest you troubleshoot with No Add-ons Mode. You may refer to: Internet Explorer 8 starts in "No Add-ons" mode when you use the desktop icon to start Internet Explorer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976915 The article is also applied in IE 9. If the issue persists in No Add-ons Mode, please reset IE settings. I very much want to thank Arthur and Noel for there help and good advice. I'm sorry to say I did not use any of it. Before they were kind enough to reply I went ahead and used a "restore point" and this took care of the problem. I did have to resetup some apps but it was not a problem because I save all downloaded "setups". Thanks so much for this forum and your attention, sincerely, John
