services, reboot, then add the NIC back in.
You could also use a legacy network adapter if that doesn't work.
In any case I'm trying an install of Win2008R2 right now so I can see if I get the same problem...
Are you getting a BSOD on the host and not the VM?
I was able to do the install with no problems,,,
What type of media are you installing from? Retail, OEM, TechNet, etc? Physical or ISO?
Have you set your antivirus program to exclude VHD and VHDX files? What AV do you have installed?

some i7 CPUs do not properly support Hyper-V
AMD AM3 and higher CPUs support it fine
Intel is hit and miss
All i-series processors have the technologies needed for Hyper-V. Chipset or BIOS implementation may not.

I have seen specific SKUs in the Intel manuals that say its not an offered feature.
I always check before purchase as my desktop ends up being another server after I retire it.
You're right. According to Intel there are two i5 CPUs that do not have EPT.

Both are embedded processors, the i5-4400e and the i5-4402.
All other i-series and generations (i3, i5, i7) processors have VT-x and EPT.
