live mesh MOE.exe safe as one-way backup?
My previous online backup was one-way over scp. I recently switched to live mesh because it's free and seems reliable. My backup is intended to be strictly one-way, it's only sync between two locations, local and skydrive, I never change anything on the
skydrive synced folder. I don't think the sync will risk changing my local files. I read about sync in general, not specifically about live mesh, in this case sync center http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/How-to-keep-your-information-in-sync
If you have added a new file in one location but not the other, Sync Center will copy the file to the other location.
If you have deleted a file from one location but not the other, Sync Center will delete the file from the other location.
and believe in that. And so far I haven't noticed any problems, but it still gives my an uneasy stomach when I see it saying "Receiving files" for long periods, I check for MOE.exe Write in Resource Monitor but haven't seen any which is good.
But I would like to receive some confirmation that it hasn't changed anything locally, does it produce a log of the sync that I can read perhaps?
What I'm afraid of is that it will accidentally revert a major folder reorganization. I believe it's unlikely that it will ever overwrite a new file with an old file unless the ntfs timestamp table is corrupted. But any local change however minor would be
too annoying.
I wish I could use robocopy /mir with skydrive but I guess that won't happen.
Thanks!
