malicious software stopping internet access
I have probably got an infection as my laptop can no longer access the internet. Any thoughts on what to do?

After any infection and one that is serious enough to stop you from accessing the internet I would reinstall windows. Are you seeing a lot of popups? I have seen where just going into Tools- Internet Options - Connections - LAN settings - make sure only
automatically detect settings is ticked. If there is more information in there then you are attepmting to use a Proxy which I doubt you have. Good Luck!
