mcafee security centre beta
hifor info and discussionI have now tried all the recommendedantivirus options for windows 7.Kapersky seemed to slow the pc to much and made multiple connections, avg wiped out one of my gadgets (calender) on installation. Norton 360worked very well but it is now out of beta and for purchase.I am currently running the beta of mcafee security centre which as just started as a beta. Installation was ok and the suite seems to work ok apart from two problems The first is that it will not update its dat file for new definitions which mcafee are working on at the moment and the other if anyone wants to try it is that its firewall blocks windows updates and I have not found a way to rectify this. Mcafee also know about this problem and are working on it. They give a short term fix which is to turn off mcafee firewall and to turn on windows firewall. Please note windows 7 and the antivirus suite are both beta and the idea is that they are released to find these problem before general release. I only say this as I have seen posts from people who have installed on what appears to be machines they rely on and then they moan when it goes wrong and have to restore to vista or xp. The idea is that we persevere to test the new systems.all the bestmalc.

I also just installed the McAfee Security Center Beta for the Windows 7 Beta and have the following isses so far: (1) The installation did not automatically disable the Windows Firewall leaving you with the Windows Firewall and the McAfee Firewall both running.(2) The program does nothing when you click on "Update".(3) Program freezes up often when navigating through the various options.
