So far I have found no way to share the root of a drive for my Xbox. If I add the drive to the library it says the wizard can't add the root of a drive for sharing. This is a pain in the butt because I want to share the contents of an external HD to the xbox and the folders in it will change. I can share the drive through normal file sharing but the xbox can't read that. Is there something I'm missing or a way round this? Cheers

Does your XBox have a username on it? As long as you have enabled file and printer sharing, and you set the root to be shared, and your firewall or other security software allows the communication with the XBox, it should work.
