memory problems after re-istall of xp
I fixed the Bot infection by re-installing windows xp, I had someone from Trend Micro help me out and they said the only fix was to reload. But I think you can help me with another problem with windowsxp. After loading, I have less memory for storage for some reason or other. I'm running with all updates and ieexplorer8, I can't reinstall any of my programs for word processing, really nothing, it is just plain windowsxp. is there something that i didn't do while installing; the format is FAT32. Capicity is 4.23 GB, used space is 4.23 gb, free space is 5.49mb. what do i do to correct this problem?1 person needs an answerI do too

Something has used up all of your storage space on the hard drive. An xp repair install wouldn't do this, it just deletes and then re-copies the system files with basic amendments to the hardware config as determined by setup. The chances are extremely high, then, that there is malware still eating up your disk space...or you were at the limit already. visit this link for a GOOD DETECTION AND REMOVAL UTILITY ONLY. THIS IS NOT AN ANTIVIRUS !!http://www.malwarebytes.org/. A full, fresh copy of xp with all the options would only consume 2gb, counting a 500mb paging file...there is too much of your hard drive taken up."THE EASIEST THING TO GET IN THIS WORLD IS A WRONG ANSWER!" I think we're missing some info here.I have XP Pro...and my Windows folder alone on my C drive has 3.19 gb in it by itself. And I've been told that XP with SP3 takes about 7-9 gb for a new install....as you have all the new .Net stuff among other things. Not trying to argue here for sure. That said, double click your My Computer icon on your Desktop (or go through Start>My Computer)...then right click on your C drive (may be a different letter though)...and click on Properties. Then you will see how much free space you have. From what I see in the OP...that computer just doesn't have enough space on the hard drive. Re-installing XP doesn't remove ALL the old files completely. You do have several options...like using KillDisk...but you will need all your drivers and Bios handy for your computer.
