monitor flickers
I bought a new computer with windows 7 but kept my monitor from the old computer. It worked fine up until about 1 month ago. Now the monitor flickers. What happened? I can't remember how to fix it. All the updates are current. I think it's because it's on the wrong mHz or whatever it's called.

You can try to adjust the refresh rate by using the advanced features under the monitor settings. The next step would be to try your monitor on another PC. By the sounds of it, if you have a supported resolution and refresh rate, the monitor itself might need to be replaced. If you find the monitor working fine on the other PC, you should look further into your video card as it may be the cause. Here are a few things to try: - Use a standard resolution for testing (try 1024x768, 800x600) - Adjust your refresh rate to 65 or 75 (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/256-screen-refresh-rate-display-settings.html) - If your video card supports both DVI and VGA, try using the opposite - Try the monitor on another pc. It's the fastest way to determine if it's defective and cut your problem solving down by half.

Hi, It could also be that your monitor is messed up. Have you tested the monitor on another PC? NakiNaki K. / Inside Support & Technical Support Associate / Falcon ITS Computer and Network Services, Miami, Fl

Hi twink73, Please first test if the monitor works properly on another computer or test the issue with another monitor. If the issue persists on another computer or if the issue does not occur while using another monitor, it should be caused by monitor itself. You can contact the monitor manufacturer to check this issue or replace it directly. Otherwise, you can perform a System Restore to see if the issue can be resolved by restoring the system to the date before the issue first occurred. If the issue persists, update the display card driver to the latest version. Also, run the display troubleshooting tool by going to Start -> Control Panel -> Troubleshooting -> Appearance and Personalization -> Display Quality. What is the result? Hope this helps. Regards, Linda

Hi Linda, I am having the same problem with my monitor, but it only flickers when I turn down the brightness. But I did go to troubleshoot, and it won't let me make any changes. What do you think it could be?
