my cap lock notifier isn't working. when I hit the cap lock, it stays in caps for about 5 minutes.
when I first used this windows 7- 64 bit brand new laptop from dell, about one year ago, i had no problems. my husband and i are so disgusted and frustrated with all of the problems and very negative issues we are having. now the cap lock notifier is gone. if we hit the cap lock, it stays on caps for about 5 minutes. we have searched and searched where to find where to find how to fix it in the display area, keyboard. there is nothing there. i want a new program that is user friendly, this is a mess. windows xp which we used for about 7 years was problem free for us. everyday, we receive hard errors that something is dangerously wrong, and we receive this message; shut down immediately". we never receive anything from the action area, or a message of microsoft, or what would be the professional way to handle all of these problems would be to identify with simplistic wording of what happened, and very specific instructions on how to fix it. we have tried and tried to be very specific when we have written to microsoft of all of the problems, and and they are so analytical and professional it people, we don't have a clue on what to do. is there any way we can just erase everything on this laptop, and just re-install everything? but right now i need instructions on the cap lock problems. thank you, steve and suzanne cramsey

Hi, According the issue, I suggest that you start up your computer and enter BIOS, then try to repro the problem in BIOS. If the issue disappear, it may be caused by some third-party software or driver. Please upgrade all the drivers and try to perform a Clean Boot. If it works fine, you may use the half and half method in the article to narrow the root cause. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 Note: Clean Boot is a step of troubleshooting, we can go back to normal by running MSCONIFG. Also you may try to repro the issue in Windows logon screen, since any third-party software would not start up in Windows logon screen. If you do not have a logon screen, please add a password manually to test it. If the problem disappear, and persists in Windows. We can suspect this issue is caused by third party software. If the problem persists in BIOS, It should be a hardware related problem. Please contact Dell to check and fix this problem. http://support.dell.com/?st=dell%20support&dgc=ST&cid=14123&lid=1030293&acd=sSxGpQOZB,13537705074,901pdb6671 Notice: Since the website is not hosted by Microsoft, the link may change without notice.
