It's fairly typical. > And its really slowing down my computer. No it's not. Whatever is slowing down your computer, that isn't it. >is there anything i can do to fix it. Start by answering all the following questions: How much RAM do you have? What background programs do you have starting automatically? Besides AVG what security software do you run (in particular whatanti-spyware software)? What applications do you run? Has it always been slow or is this something new? If it's new, whendid it start and what changes had you made around that time? It's slow on everything or when doing some things? If the latter, whatthings? How slow is it? Put a number on it, even if approximate. > i saw AVG might be a problem so i deleted it and its still high. Getting rid of your anti-virus (even though AVG is not a particularlygood one) is likely to get you infected and that will slow you downfurther, not make you faster > Ive virus scanned and anti spyware scanned. and i have nothing.> > i will include a screen shot for you all to see> > > > http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/9887/memusage.jpg> > > > Thanks Chris Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP

Thanks for the reply.i have 4G of RAMWhen i start up all i have running is windows media player.i have spybot search and destroy as my anti spyware programme. It only recently started. i got a virus which deleted all my .exe files. So i took it into a computer shop which removed the virus. they also said they removed some programs on startup. when they did this they deleted some of my graphics drivers. ive replaced them but it still slows my computer down.Im a big computer gamer and when ever i play any game it just slows the whole computer down. on a scale of 1-10 1 being really slow and 10 running at optimum speed. when i open any game it goes to about 2/10. If i just open Internet explore it slows down to about 4/10. Thanks Chris

Not a great choice, but at least you have something. > It only recently started. i got a virus What virus was it? > which deleted all my .exe files. It certainly sounds like the combination of what they did and what youdid afterward did *not* put the computer back the way it was. It'shard to be sure without knowing any details, but I suspect that yourbest choice at this point might be to junk whatever you have and startover again with a clean reinstallation of Windows. > Im a big computer gamer and when ever i play any game it just slows the whole computer down. on a scale of 1-10 1 being really slow and 10 running at optimum speed. when i open any game it goes to about 2/10.
