1. Here is knowledge article on this error http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2028504/en-us 2. Address the AMD support/forum as well as Portal 2 vendor's forum for more information on this type of error. 3. Consult Microsoft software compatibility if the games are compatible with Windows 7 4. Always install chipset driver followed by graphics, video and NIC drivers just after vanilla plain operating system installation. To save time, make backup of updated operating system for fast return when something fails. Regards Milos

ok, basically as title suggests, Portal 2 loads, and either during the "loading screen" or after getting to the main menu, the system does 1 of 2 things, it will either crash with no blue screen or crash and give me a blue screen. OS - Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit RAM - Currently 8gb GSkill Ripjaws X *2x4gb kit* PROC - AMD FX-4170 *recently installed* Mother board - GA-870A-UD3 rev 3.1 with bios update FEe for AM3+ support GRAPHICS CARD - HIS ATI Radeon HD 4670 i recently did a fresh install of windows 7 and then this started to happen, i had gotten an FX-4170 before doing a wipe and im 99% positive i had loaded Portal 2 as well as some other games and it was fine however when running any stress testing program the old one would fail, everytime. this new core however in the stability tests is stable. however now im encountering this problem, i thought it might have been that i didnt do a proper install of steam *since i have that on a seperate 1.5tb hard drive* so i did that and the first game i had steam install was portal 2. i still get a BSOD. i have reinstalled the ATI driver and i am still getting BSOD. here is the event viewer info - System - Provider [ Name] Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Power [ Guid] {331C3B3A-2005-44C2-AC5E-77220C37D6B4} EventID 41 Version 2 Level 1 Task 63 Opcode 0 Keywords 0x8000000000000002 - TimeCreated [ SystemTime] 2012-05-12T16:46:21.229622200Z EventRecordID 10967 Correlation - Execution [ ProcessID] 4 [ ThreadID] 8 Channel System Computer Cloud-Strife - Security [ UserID] S-1-5-18 - EventData BugcheckCode 0 BugcheckParameter1 0x0 BugcheckParameter2 0x0 BugcheckParameter3 0x0 BugcheckParameter4 0x0 SleepInProgress false PowerButtonTimestamp 0 if any1 has a suggestion for uploading the minidump file please let me know dont know if there is an "appropiate" website to use if any1 can give me a hand with this i would greatly appreciate it. also if any other information is needed please do not hesitate thanks in advance
