Did you just type this in the box for Search programs and files or at an elevated Cmd prompt? If I type this in the Search box I get the same error, but if I open a Cmd prompt, it works fine. I opened Cmd with Run as Administrator.

i typed it in CMD. I have admin rights but didn't try Run as Administrator . running as admin seems to have worked, thanks. i was originally doing this in a batch file. is there a command to tell it to run as admin within the batch file?

I think NET in Windows 7 is built into the command shell so I dont think PATH will help. Is the workstation service started? On the Network connections, is the Client for Microsoft Networks installed? On the Network connections, is TCP/IP properley installed?

Could you run the script on start up? http://www.tutorial5.com/content/view/157/47/ (how to setup start up scripts) *also, I found this. I haven't test/tried this but it could be what you're after* "I'm currently running a startup script in form of a bat file successfully in Windows 7 (I've inserted a new registry key entry with the bat file path as value in Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run) ." source - http://superuser.com/questions/71190/running-bat-file-at-startup-as-administrator-in-windows-7 physical graffiti
