networking question trying to get win7 to use ics like xp
I have a wireless network (only way to get web access). I also have over devices that connect through the wired network adapter. In xp I just have to click on this device connects to the internet and other device connect through it. my phone and xbox360 both have connection but with win 7 I have tried everything the help told me followed the ics walk through etc. As soon as i turn on my wired connection both go to local only. it's still connected to the wireless router i can see it on the router when i log in to it with a roommates computer. Any Ideas? i can give any other info that is needed

Hi, This issue occurs if ICS is not configured properly. The following article can be helpful. In Windows 7 beta the method is the same. Windows Vista Help: Using ICS (Internet Connection Sharing) Arthur Xie - MSFT

well I followed the directions the first time. I turned them off and reapplied them, still no joy. tried a few other thing got mad did a reinstall of win 7 fresh format and all. now it runs faster and ICS worked like it should. The first time it might have been a bad install. It is a dell 8400. those instructions are what comes with win 7 and i followed them the first time, but thank you for taking the time to answer my problem.

to all moderators...did nobody in microsoft want to accept that some networks need static IP-s?? advanced win7 cannot provide the ICS stability of the old and obsolete XP. besides that ICS is working only with dinamic IP-s is a full sh.... is working with static also. perfect.. until you make a mistake to touch something in the system settings. as example to change locale language. in that case the ICS of the super OS is just dead. is not helping revert settings, no system restore, no restore image .........noooothing.. you are back in the beginning with the magic format c:. i do not met still any specialist or moderator to admit that ICS in win7 is working only if is in good spirit. how about remove sharing and create again?! *......service or group of services failed to start*. and guess what...back to the magic format. the link up is not solving the problem in real. is that all what you have?
