non-domain Win7 holds domain credentials??
Hi. I have a Win7 non-domain laptop that wants to print to a domain printer (on server running Server2003). In the past (with XP), I've set up the printer and mapped a network drive to a folder on that server. The user on the non-domain computer would double-click the network drive and be asked for domain credentials. The user would then give a domain username (different from the login name for the non-domain computer). The user then had access to that folder and in turn, access to the domain printer. They would have to go through these steps after every reboot as the computer would lose domain privileges. When I try that with the Win7 laptop, it prints great and gives access to that folder all the time WITHOUT ever prompting for credentials again. Day after day, reboot after reboot. It's great for the user but I feel a real security problem for me. Is this by design and can I change a setting on the Win7 machine or do I need to change something on the server? Thanks, MGoldberg

Hi, Regarding the issue, I suggest that you may check the permission on sever. Since this behavior is depend on the print server setting. Also check whether the current account, if there is a same account on the server. Hope that helpsPlease remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question.
