Your inbox may be corrupt. Move all the messages out of the inbox to another folder. Then close OE and delete the inbox.dbx file (hidden). OE will then create a new, non-corrupted one. If you are having such troubles, I would also recommend you do a backup of your message store, in case it self-destructs, which happens quite a bit.
