problem with remote desktop
Hi, I have really strange problem with my connection with remote desktop. "A" is my local machine, "B" is the Windows Server 2003 where I connect using remote desktop. I set the connection to share serial ports, C drive and printers. When I'm on the "B" server I see mapped local printer (HP LaserJet on "A", printer is connected to "A" machine by USB). When I try to print some text form notepad I see that it is passed to "A" machine. In printer tasks on machine "A" is see that this task is "buffered" and nothing happens. I need to cancel printing job. But when I turn off printing buffering I get message that there's no ink. Of course ink level is fine and when I print something from local machine everything works well. Do you know what is wrong? Best regards

Hi, Thank you for posting. Based on my research, I would like to suggest the following: 1. Please try the solution in the following Knowledge Base: Printers that use ports that do not begin with COM, LPT, or USB are not redirected in a remote desktop or a terminal services session http://support.microsoft.com/kb/302361 2. Ensure that the account you use to remote to computer A is administrator or it has permission to access the printer. 3. Just for test, remote to computer A and then remove the printer and reinstall the printer to see how it works. 4. You can also try to remote to computer from another computer and check if the issue persists. Meanwhile, I would like to share the following document with you: Configuring Remote Desktop http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457106.aspx Hope this helps. Thanks.Nicholas Li - MSFT
