remote desktop(mstsc) ??
Can some1 tell me what happened with the mstsc tool in windows 7? I need to remotely connect to a server and i cannot find the tool in 7. thanks in advance

It's still there. At least it is in Home Premium, Pro and Ultimate. What version of Windows 7 do you have and how are you trying to run it?

am using ultimate looking in the startmenu, nothing there. started run/mstsc, nothing. looked in the system32, nothing

See if MSTSC.EXE exists in c:\windows\system32 or c:\windows\sysWOW64

no mstsc.exe in system32. the syswow64 doesnt exist. btw, need the client to connect from my windows 7 to a w2003 servr

Not an issue, as long as the server's set up to accept a remote connection; I do it several times a day from Windows 7 Ultimate to my Windows 2003 servers. Since I don't think it's possible to not install the Remote Desktop client on Windows 7, you either have an incomplete installation (not likely), someone deliberately deleted it (more likely), or you have a group policy that removes it (most likely). I really don't know what to tell you to do except to try to copy the MSTSC.EXE file from another workstation into your system32 folder. The Vista or XP versions should work if you don't have another Windows 7 machine available.

the xp and vista rdc didnt work. so i ended up with reinstaling the machine; works fine now.
