router problem
Just bought a new Vista enabled dual core machine, and am completly unable to access the routers webpage. I know the router is fine, as I am still able to access the internet through all programs I have loaded on here, so its going to be a vista/router issue. I am running Vista Home Premium Edition, and my router is a Belkin (model F5D6230-3) I can access the router fine from my other dual core (win xp) machine fine so for now to control the router/set up port forwards etc, I can use the other machine, but obviously I would like to know why it doesnt work on this machine. Have done a bit of searching on the internet and found topics that instuct me to disable the firewalls, and also to disable the IPv6 (TCP/IPV4/6) but none of this has worked. Can anyone help? thanks

If you have any XP machines on your network, try this: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=70582 installer on your XP machines reboot everything, and it should work. It did for me.

"my router is a Belkin (model F5D6230-3) I" I have not seen any Belkin router with this model name. Are you it isn't a model F5D7230?

FWIW department... Here is the Belkin page for that particular router... http://www.belkin.com/support/product/?lid=en&pid=F5D6230-3&scid=221

That router is not listed on the Belkin Vista compatibility page for whatever reason. http://www.belkin.com/support/vista/ You could run this test from MSto try and gather additional information... http://www.microsoft.com/windows/using/tools/igd/default.mspx The bottom line though you may be better off, if its in your budget, to replace the router and upgrade to a newer router. Particularly if this current device does not support the use of WPA2 or WPA to secure your wireless network...
