Don't you have a Remove All button at the bottom of the dialog box ?Fernando Peralta | MCITP:EA, MCTS:Windows Vista, MCSE, MCSA:Security

hi fernando, thanks for the quick response..... no such button under any of the 4 tabs... under history there's only 'delete history', but not the items in quarantine. i mean it's no big deal (as long as they're locked up!), but i would prefer them GONE! have a great new ear, leslie

Hi Leslie,Please try to select the Details in the History tab for the threat and there should be an option to remove or restore the quarantined item.If failed, make sure it is not be removed already. Also you can check this folder to find the quarantined items: \ProgramData\Microsoft\Microsoft Antimalware\Quarantine. You can manually delete them if needed.

sometimes we miss something very minor. I was trying to restore a particular file but restore option was shown grayed. but as soon as I ticked in the box, delete and restore option became available.

A little old... but in case you haven't figured it out yet--- Click History > Click "Quarantined Items" ("All detected items" should be clicked my default) > and then check mark whichever items you'd like to remove or restore (or you can use the "Remove All"
button. (Clicking the "Quarantined Items" will make the Remove/Restore buttons appear.) Hope that helps. :)

Hello!
I followed your instructions; however, the quarantined file shows up under "all detected items" but not quarantined items. Is this normal? Does this mean that the file has been successfully removed from my computer, or is there something I'm
doing wrong?

When I open the history tab there are three choices: All Decteted Items; quarantined items only or allowed items only. Check the Quarantined items only. each quarantined item is presented with a check mark in fron of it. check the items
you want to delete and at the bottom of the screen you have the option to remove all, remove or retore. click the button that applys.

i am looking at the exact same thing and when i read details it brings up an error code which makes me wonder also . as if maybe the virus has tricked security essentials . ive used this antivirus 4 a while and that is the first time i hav seen that
. any quarantines that hav popped up have went under quarantied section . this on did not , it went under detected items . i dont care what ab or button on or in that entire dialogue box u press , u arent gonna remove that one because there is not a choice
to deletye it . that box usually only shows removed items . id like someone to tell me what to do also . i mean if it is still there and i delete history , im not even going to be able to remember or tell a professional what it was that may still be present
. it dosent say removed , so in my book it still in yours and my computer

How to delete the quarantined files:
(Deleting the history will not do it; you must delte the VIRUS FILES!)
Inside Security Essentials, go to the "Settings" tab, then on the left click on "Advanced" on the bottom right then is a box to
check "remove quarantined files after:" You pick the time frame; 1 day is the lowest you can pick. I just did it as I got severely infected. Hopefully nothing got ruined. I am skill doing a full scan. got 2 rogues: Win32/winwebsec and a trojandownloader:
HTML/Renos.R. This happened when searching for a "Zinnia" for my garden and above a garden website were several Zinnia pictures with the header "Iamges for zinnia" and I clicked on the bright red one and bingo! Underneath was a legitimate garden company and I
thought the images were part of their website but they were not!!!
Hopefully my system is not ruined. I will reset my system to an earlier time after the full 1 hr. scan is completed. It is finding more of them.
