sfc error and updating failes
Hi, I'm running Vista 64 bit and since a few weeks Vista won't update anymore. I'm getting the error code 80070424. I didsomereadings around the net and this forum here and tried a lot of 'fixes' but none of them work. Also running sfc /scannow is failing, I'm getting the message: 'The repairservice cannot be started' emidiatly after pressing the enter button and nothing happens. Didn't find anything usefull on the net about this problem. I guess that both problems have something to do with eachother. I would like to try a repair but I don't have a Vista DVD with SP1 pre installed and vLite gives me errors when I try to make my own slipstream DVD.Can someonehelp me with this?

Hi Glorious100, I suggest you first take a look at the following KB article: Some Windows Vista functions may not work, or Windows Vista may stop responding http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929833 This article listed the method to fix the issue if SFC cannot repair system files. Regarding Windows Update error 80070424, it refers to "service does not exist". As we have our specific support team on Windows Update, you can submit a free support incident via the following link: https://support.microsoft.com/oas/default.aspx?gprid=6527 Hope this helps!
